Policy

1Overview

This Cookie Policy explains how Mnemexa uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (mnemexa.com) and our application dashboard (app.mnemexa.com).

We keep cookie usage minimal. We do not run advertising networks, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioural profiling. The cookies we use exist to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the product is used in aggregate so we can improve it.

Plain-English summary: Strictly necessary cookies for login and security. No advertising cookies. No selling data. You can disable non-essential cookies anytime.

2What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember your preferences, and keep you signed in across pages and visits.

Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage (browser-side storage used by single-page apps), and first-party analytics events. We treat these the same as cookies for the purposes of this policy.

3Types We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary

Required for the site and dashboard to function. They keep you signed in, secure your session against CSRF, and remember which workspace you are in. These cannot be disabled — disabling them would break login.

3.2 Functional

Remember preferences such as theme, last-viewed page, or onboarding state. These improve the experience but the product works without them.

3.3 Analytics

First-party, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage — e.g. which pages are visited, which features are used. We do not use cross-site tracking or fingerprinting. IP addresses are anonymised at collection.

3.4 Advertising

We do not use advertising cookies. No remarketing pixels, no cross-site tracking, no third-party ad networks.

5Third-Party Cookies

A small number of features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies on the page where used:

  • Paddle — Used on checkout/billing flows for payment processing. Cookies are set by Paddle only when you actively start a checkout.
  • YouTube / video embeds — Where we embed product videos, the embed provider may set cookies on play. We use privacy-enhanced embeds where available.

These third parties are bound by their own privacy policies. We do not share your account data with them beyond what is required for the feature.

6Your Choices

You can control cookies in several ways:

  • In-app preferences: Disable functional and analytics cookies in the dashboard under Settings → Privacy.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so may break authentication.
  • Cookie banner (EEA/UK): Where required by law, we present a banner on first visit allowing granular consent.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled because the site will not function without them.

7Do Not Track & GPC

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. When GPC is enabled in your browser, we treat it as an opt-out from non-essential analytics cookies. Because we do not run advertising or sell data, the practical effect of "Do Not Track" on Mnemexa is limited — there is nothing further to opt out of.

8Changes to This Policy

We update this policy when we change our cookie usage. Material changes will be notified via the cookie banner or by email to registered users at least 30 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
